All-India bandh call by trade unions: Bengal, Kerala worst hit

Nine major trade unions have called for a 24-hour long nationwide bandh today to protest against price rise and other issues like disinvestment of public sector, retrenchment and entry of foreign capital in retail market. Kolkata seems to be the worst-hit due to the strike as of now, with more than 100 flights cancelled by major carriers.

Army Captain’s death: Antony orders new probe

For four years, Captain Sumit Kohli’s family has asserted he was murdered. And now heeding to their demands Defence Minister AK Antony has ordered a reinvestigation into his death. Captain Kohli was found dead with gunshot wounds in his room in April 2006. The Army's Court of Inquiry held his death was a suicide.

Shiva Solanki, nephew of BJP MP Dinu Solanki was today arrested from near the Rajkot airport in connection with the murder of RTI activist and green crusader Amit Jethwa."We have arrested Shiva Solanki, from near the Rajkot airport while he was on his way to Mumbai," said Police Crime Branch Chief Mohan Jha.
